lost and found diskette #9482
JOKES, GAMES, etc.
for windows 3.1
kinda surprised at how beautiful HANGMAN.EXE turned out to be
@vga256 a powerful artefact
@britown there was also a MANSONG.WAV which turned out to be a torturous 3 minute sean morey comedy skit
@vga256 I can't imagine storing my jokes on a diskette but I approve.
@ThreeOhFour i remember my mom downloading powerpoint slides of cats doing silly things at work, and writing them to a floppy for safe keeping
@vga256 I remember goofy flash animations being passed around via burnt CDs, but the comedy animation here is what I internalize as "chain email humour" and that's where it was always found in my mind, not on an actual hard drive or backup disk :'D
@ThreeOhFour hahaha that's EXACTLY what it was too. garbage FWD: Funny!!
@vga256 I remember the EXACT person that was still sending me these in like 2012 hahaha
@ThreeOhFour lol. i can remember the very last person that sent me one too. we worked in an office together, and i got FWDs from her for *years* after i quit
@vga256 That sort of persistence is admirable. Now those same people are on Facebook, sharing things with people instead. The paradigm has shifted, but nothing truly changes.
@ThreeOhFour i never thought about it that way before, but's *totally* what facebook is
@vga256 One look at the age range demographic says it allllll...
@vga256 @ThreeOhFour Best was when you got one that was "FWD: Fwd: FWD: FWD: fwd: FWD: Fwd: FWD: <actual subject line here>"
@vga256 I still remember warnings to not write with pens/pencils/etc directly on the disk.
IIRC actual floppy disks like 5¼" we're too thin and sensitive to pressure, while graphite from pencils could get into the disk area and add scratches or dust the disk drive.
@vga256 I remember that Hangman game!
@PurpleJillybeans my first time seeing it. impressive!
@vga256 Reminds me when me and my uncle found an old CD of his stuck in an old CD drive and had a program of a guy farting across the screen
@vga256 Dude, the Hangman game is amazing!
@vga256 Yeah that was peak Windows. It all went down hill from there.
